About White River
The White River Recreational Access Program is still being managed through Hancock Forest Management, please do not contact the land owning entity for recreational access information.
White River access permits allow entry to the White River Forest located east of Enumclaw, Washington.
Motorized Recreation Access permits allow access for a range of outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, hiking, bicycling, sightseeing, photography – activities that are not allowed are motorcycling, ATVing, snowmobiling and target shooting.
Be advised that White River land owners are authorized to drive on all roads inculding ones in the wildlife escapement areas.
Motorized permits allow access for families, defined for the purpose of this permit as legally married spouses (recognized by the State of Washington) and their children under age 19. Every person in a vehicle entering the property must have a permit or be named on their parent’s permit, even if they are not driving. Permits cost $225 and are limited to 500 permits to be sold.
Non-motorized permits are available on an annual or daily basis for families or individuals and are required for all non-motorized access including horseback riding, walking and bicycling. Permits are available for purchase on-line, just click on the non-motorized permit tab. Annual family permits cost $80 and individual permits cost $45 with an unlimited quantity available for purchase. Daily permits cost $15 for families and $8 for individuals and are good for one-day only. Non-motorized permit holders may not ride in any vehicle while on the property.
Camping permits are also available that allow overnight camping in designated areas. Campers must also have either a motorized access or non-motorized access permit. Please click on the camping tab for more information.
All access is generally open from April 1st to March 30th except July 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Access is allowed from 1 and 1/2 hours before sunrise to 1 and 1/2 hours after sunset and overnight for up to 14 days in a month with a camping permit.
